Fuel Effects on Regulated and Unregulated Emissions from Two Commercial Euro V and Euro VI Road Transport Vehicles

چکیده

Substantial advances in European road vehicle emissions have been achieved over the past three decades driven by strengthening revisions legislation and enabled fuel, engine control technologies. As both technology Europe continue to evolve, Concawe has conducted a study examine effects that fuels can on emissions, this case from commercial vehicles. A bus certified Euro VI level delivery truck V tested chassis-dyno World Harmonized Vehicle Cycle (WHVC) Transport for London Urban Inter-Peak (TfL UIP) test cycles with six fuels: an EN590-compliant B5 (petroleum diesel containing 5% biodiesel volume), bioderived paraffinic diesel, 50:50 blend of aforementioned fuels, low-density petroleum-derived B5, B30 same additized high dose cetane number improver (CNI). Results show reduced NOx reductant (AdBlue) consumption due lower engine-out emissions. More surprisingly, higher hydrocarbon were observed some truck. Compared without CNI did not affect tank-to-wheel (TTW) CO2, volumetric fuel or statistically significant margins. When considered findings complementary light-duty study, it is apparent could offer overall benefits affecting local air quality greenhouse gas TTW basis. The addition fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) levels be used increase renewable contribution resulting no penalty modern Compatibility these existing fleet would require further specific consideration. Outside properties considerations, aftertreatment systems N2O at tailpipe through chemical reactions catalyst. This translate into about 10% GHG vehicle.

Impacts of ethanol fuel level on emissions of regulated and unregulated pollutants from a fleet of gasoline light-duty vehicles

The study investigated the impact of ethanol blends on criteria emissions (THC, NMHC, CO, NOx), greenhouse gas (CO2), and a suite of unregulated pollutants in a fleet of gasoline-powered light-duty vehicles. The vehicles ranged in model year from 1984 to 2007 and included one Flexible Fuel Vehicle (FFV). Emission and fuel consumption measurements were performed in duplicate or triplicate over t...

Solid Particle Number Emission Factors of Euro VI Heavy-Duty Vehicles on the Road and in the Laboratory

Particulate matter (PM), and in particular ultrafine particles, have a negative impact on human health. The contribution of vehicle PM emissions to air pollution is typically quantified with emission inventories, which need vehicle emission factors as input. Heavy-duty vehicles, although they represent a small percentage of the vehicle population in nearly every major country, contribute the ma...

Ethylene glycol emissions from on-road vehicles.

Ethylene glycol (HOCH2CH2OH), used as engine coolant for most on-road vehicles, is an intermediate volatility organic compound (IVOC) with a high Henry's law coefficient. We present measurements of ethylene glycol (EG) vapor in the Caldecott Tunnel near San Francisco, using a proton transfer reaction mass spectrometer (PTR-MS). Ethylene glycol was detected at mass-to-charge ratio 45, usually in...
